Vice Governor of Jilin Province A’ dong went to Changbai Mountain on May 9 to visit the Temple Site from the Jin Dynasty to get informed of the preservation of historical and cultural heritage. The excavation leader, Associate Professor Zhao Junjie, introduced the main achievements of archaeological work over the years to A’ dong and his delegation, and reported the site’s major historical and practical significance. Speaking highly of the RCCFA's achievements in archaeological excavation and site protection, A'dong expressed his hope that Jilin University would take this opportunity to further advance archaeological and historical research, and made specific requests for the next-step protection, display and utilization of the site.

Changbai Mountain Temple Site sits at Erdaobaihe Town, Antu County, Jilin Province, about 50km straight away from the Tianchi Lake in Changbai Mountain. After 7 years from 2013 to 2019 of archaeological excavations by the Jilin Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the RCCFA together, the site was proved where Changbai Mountain Temple was located in the Jin Dynasty. As the first national remains to worship the God of Mountain discovered outside the Central Plains, the site provides significant reference for us to figure out the pattern of the mountain and sea temples in the Song and Jin Dynasties and the development of the etiquette system in the Jin Dynasty, and to study the frontier management in the Jin Dynasty and the formation and development of the unified multi-ethnic states in China. The site has been listed among "China's Six New Archaeological Discoveries in 2017" and "Ten New Archaeological Discoveries across China in 2017".
